Twelve-tone matrix calculator

Serialism is a music composition technique developed and perfected in the first decades of the 20th century by Austrian-American composer and music theorist Arnold Schönberg. It consists of composing instrumental and vocal parts by layering variations of notes sequences extracted from a reordered sequence of the twelve tones belonging to the chromatic scale, called Basic Set, and from additional sets obtained by calculating its intervals backwards, transposing and inverting these sets. All these sets can be put on a matrix, calculating this matrix from a random Basic Set sequence is a classic coding exercise, and it’s easy to find web applications online to calculate a twelve-tone matrix. If you don’t want to use a web app and you prefer a free and open source local app, you can try this Windows app called Tone Matrix.
